1st Generation instructor Jay Grimes would say that receiving your teacher certification is much like getting a learners permit in Pilates. Upon completion there is often a feeling of general overwhelm from the wealth of knowledge learned.
Where to start?
This clinic will focus on Pilates pedagogy for the new student. Special attention will be brought to the Contrology conepts and tenets of movement that Jay Grimes taught. With those principles in mind we will spend time in the basement of the beginner system sharpening the skills needed to build firm foundations, impart independence, and deepen The Work.
We will explore:
- What each Auxiliary Apparatus is for, and when to utilize them.
- Eye Training on how to look at the body in front of you.
- Strategies in the Pilates system to address what you see.
- Techniques for working one on one, as well as in group settings.
Plan to leave feeling more confident as a teacher in being able to tailor a session specifically to the student in front of you.

12n – 12:30 Group Workout
12:30 – 12:45 Lecture
12:45 – 1:45 Application
1:45 – 2pm Cool Down / Q&A
